3/19/2026 Tomobiki 友引 x New Moon 新月

Tomobiki 友引 × New Moon 新月

A quiet beginning for things that matter.

Today, two auspicious energies meet: Tomobiki 友引 from the Japanese lunar calendar, and the New Moon 新月.

Tomobiki 友引 is considered one of the most favorable days in the traditional Japanese Rokuyo 六曜 cycle, second only to Taian 大安.

Its original meaning was "a draw," a day of peaceful equilibrium with no winners or losers. Over time, it came to be understood as "drawing friends close", a day to share happiness, welcome meaningful connections, and begin things you want to last.

As a general guide for the day: mornings are auspicious, late afternoon and evening are especially so. (The midday hours around 11am–1pm are traditionally a time for rest.)

Today is also a New Moon 新月. The moon is invisible in the sky, yet full of quiet potential.

The new moon 新月 marks the very beginning of the lunar cycle: a moment of reset, renewal, and new beginnings.

What you plant today grows with the moon.

With Tomobiki's gift of connection and the New Moon's energy of fresh starts, today is a beautiful day to:

✦ Reach out to someone you've been meaning to thank

✦ Write down something new you'd like to welcome into your life

✦ Begin a new journal, planner, or ritual

✦ Pause at dusk, look toward the sky, and hold your intention gently

The moon you cannot see tonight is the one that will rise most brilliantly. Seeds planted today carry the warmth of the sun and the patience of the tide.

Wishing you a gentle and auspicious day. ✨

Iyasaka 弥栄!
